168,000 people aged 60 plus in England participated in state-funded learning in 2007-08.
Only 30 per cent of people aged 65 and over have ever used the internet.
21 per cent of those aged 75 plus in England are participating in formal volunteering at least once a month. The average for all ages is 26 per cent.
People aged 65 and over spend on average three and three quarters hours a day watching TV (or a DVD or Video).
